Most big ships leave from the Adossat pier (Moll Adossat), about 3 km from the city. There are several terminals, and your cruise line may not tell you which one until the week you sail. A flat-rate taxi from the airport to the Adossat pier costs €46.

Where Barcelona lies
From Barcelona-El Prat Josep Tarradellas Airport (BCN)
About 13 km (8 mi) to the cruise terminals (Holland America)
Taxi (official black-and-yellow)
- Collect your bags and follow the taxi signs outside arrivals.
- Use the official taxi line only.
- Tell the driver your terminal letter (A, B, C, D, E or MSC) and say 'Moll Adossat'.
- Confirm the €46 flat fare to the Adossat pier before you set off.
The €46 flat rate is set by Barcelona's taxi authority (AMB/IMET) for Moll Adossat to or from El Prat. If your ship is at the World Trade Center pier instead, the normal meter applies, plus a €4.60 airport surcharge. Any taxi from the airport costs at least €21.
Uber, Cabify or Bolt
- Book in the app after you have your bags.
- Follow the airport signs to the ride-share pickup area.
- Enter your terminal name as the destination.
Holland America says Cabify, Uber and Bolt are widely available.
Aerobús + Cruise bus (budget)
- Take Aerobús A1 (from T1) or A2 (from T2) to Plaça Catalunya.
- Get from Plaça Catalunya down La Rambla toward the Columbus Monument (Colom).
- Take the port's Cruise bus shuttle to the Adossat terminals.
Cheap, but hard with big suitcases. Not recommended for travelers with heavy bags or limited mobility.
Cruise line transfer
- Book through your cruise line before you fly.
- Look for the line's rep with a sign in arrivals.
- Your bags are often loaded for you.
Easiest choice if your flight lands the morning you sail.
From the city or your hotel
Taxi
Best choice with luggage.
Cruise bus (port shuttle)
Official port shuttle linking the Adossat terminals with the city center.
Where to stay
Arrive a day or two early. A delayed flight on sailing day is the most common way travelers miss the ship.
Near Plaça Catalunya or the Gothic Quarter
Central, the airport bus stops here, and it is a short taxi ride to the port.
Port Vell / near the Columbus Monument
Closest to the cruise shuttle and the World Trade Center pier.
Sailing day
Terminals & docks
The port lists Terminals A, B, D (Palacruceros), E (Helix), an MSC terminal, and WTC B. Most are on the Adossat pier. Terminal E (Helix) gives priority to Carnival-group ships. Holland America says its ships use Terminal D or E and the exact terminal is not given until the week of arrival. The port has closed the World Trade Center North terminal and moved those calls to Adossat. A new Terminal C is being built.
Check-in
- Your terminal may not be confirmed until the week you sail. Check your cruise line app the day before.
- There is no luggage storage at the pier (Holland America).
- You can be dropped off at the terminal, but you cannot park at the terminals except the cruise parking next to Terminals D and E.
What trips people up
- The terminals are spread along the port. Walking between them is not practical.
- Adossat is about 3 km from the city. You cannot easily walk from the Ramblas with bags.
- The terminal changes from ship to ship. Know your letter before you get in a taxi.
Do this
- Ask the taxi driver to confirm the €46 flat fare to Moll Adossat.
- Fly in at least one day early. Barcelona is a top city to explore before you sail.
- Watch for pickpockets on La Rambla and the metro.
Leaving the ship: back to the airport
The same routes run in reverse. On the last morning everyone leaves at once, so lines for taxis and buses are at their longest. Book flights home for the afternoon or later, and arrange your ride in advance if you can.
