The short answer

Tarragona is docked, but the berth is too far to walk comfortably, so use the bus to Camp de Mart at the edge of the old town. From there, walk the Roman walls, cathedral and the sea-view amphitheatre. Barcelona is about an hour away but makes for a rushed day.

Distance to townSources disagree: the cruise port lists 'City center: 5.8 km' and What's In Port says about 2 km. The ship bus drops you at Avinguda Catalunya by the Camp de Mart, at the edge of the old town (Tarragona Turisme).
