The short answer

Most big ships leave from the Adossat pier (Moll Adossat), about 3 km from the city. There are several terminals, and your cruise line may not tell you which one until the week you sail. A flat-rate taxi from the airport to the Adossat pier costs €46.

Where Barcelona lies

Step by step

From Barcelona-El Prat Josep Tarradellas Airport (BCN)

About 13 km (8 mi) to the cruise terminals (Holland America)

Taxi (official black-and-yellow)

Time 30-40 minutes, depending on trafficCost €46 flat fare between the airport and the Adossat cruise pier (official 2026 rate T-4)
  1. Collect your bags and follow the taxi signs outside arrivals.
  2. Use the official taxi line only.
  3. Tell the driver your terminal letter (A, B, C, D, E or MSC) and say 'Moll Adossat'.
  4. Confirm the €46 flat fare to the Adossat pier before you set off.

The €46 flat rate is set by Barcelona's taxi authority (AMB/IMET) for Moll Adossat to or from El Prat. If your ship is at the World Trade Center pier instead, the normal meter applies, plus a €4.60 airport surcharge. Any taxi from the airport costs at least €21.

Terminals & docks

The port lists Terminals A, B, D (Palacruceros), E (Helix), an MSC terminal, and WTC B. Most are on the Adossat pier. Terminal E (Helix) gives priority to Carnival-group ships. Holland America says its ships use Terminal D or E and the exact terminal is not given until the week of arrival. The port has closed the World Trade Center North terminal and moved those calls to Adossat. A new Terminal C is being built.

Check-in

  • Your terminal may not be confirmed until the week you sail. Check your cruise line app the day before.
  • There is no luggage storage at the pier (Holland America).
  • You can be dropped off at the terminal, but you cannot park at the terminals except the cruise parking next to Terminals D and E.

What trips people up

  • The terminals are spread along the port. Walking between them is not practical.
  • Adossat is about 3 km from the city. You cannot easily walk from the Ramblas with bags.
  • The terminal changes from ship to ship. Know your letter before you get in a taxi.

Do this

  • Ask the taxi driver to confirm the €46 flat fare to Moll Adossat.
  • Fly in at least one day early. Barcelona is a top city to explore before you sail.
  • Watch for pickpockets on La Rambla and the metro.

Leaving the ship: back to the airport

The same routes run in reverse. On the last morning everyone leaves at once, so lines for taxis and buses are at their longest. Book flights home for the afternoon or later, and arrange your ride in advance if you can.
