The short answer

Saint-Tropez is a tender port, and you land right in the village by the Old Port. The old town, Citadel and Place des Lices market (Tuesday and Saturday mornings) are all on foot. For the famous beaches, take a taxi or the seasonal bus.

Wise counsel

What goes wrong, and how to avoid it

Beware

  • Tender port; wind (mistral) can cancel tenders.
  • Very expensive cafés.
  • Summer coastal roads are very busy (What's In Port).

Do this

  • Go on a Tuesday or Saturday to see the big market.
  • Have a coffee at the port and just watch the yachts.
